Tournament Format
Stage 1: Swiss Group Stage
- All teams will be entered into one group to play in a swiss-style group stage.
- In the event that the tournament has an odd number of teams, one team will receive a ‘bye’ each round. A ‘bye’ will be calculated as a win by default.
- All Swiss group stage matches are best of 1.
- There will be six rounds of Swiss group stage matches.
- Teams will be randomly paired with one another to begin the tournament. Following the first match, teams are paired with one another based on their records.
- For example, 1-0 teams are typically matched together, 1-1 teams are typically matched together, and so forth.
- Teams will continue to play each other until the six rounds are completed. This will provide us with seeds for the eight teams that quality for the playoff bracket.
Stage 1 Tiebreakers
- Here are the tiebreakers in the event of a tie for qualifying for the playoff bracket or seeding:
- Tiebreaker #1: Head-to-head. The team that won the head-to-head match up, if applicable.
- Tiebreaker #2: If teams did not play in a head-to-head match, the Median-Buchholz system will be used. This system calculates a score based on a team’s opponents’ scores throughout the stage. The team with the better score will win the tiebreaker.
- Tiebreaker #3: If the teams are tied through both the #1 and #2 tiebreakers, the following will occur:
- ■ 2 teams tied: Teams will play a best of 1 match on Elven Forest to determine who advances.
- ■ 3 or more teams tied: Teams will be randomly placed into a single-elimination, best of 1 bracket on Elven Forest. If there are an odd number of teams (three or five), it will be randomized who receives a bye in the tiebreaker bracket.
Stage 2: Playoff Bracket
- Eight teams will qualify from the first stage. Teams will be seeded in accordance with their placement from stage 1.
- The quarterfinals and semifinals will be best of 3, while the finals will be a best of 5.
Tournament & Match Processes
- During stage 1, there is a possibility that some teams will need to host their own matches. In the event of this occurring, the tournament admins will familiarize teams with the proper settings to ensure matches are hosted properly. Teams will be instructed to screenshot the end result of each game to confirm the validity of the results.
- The player that has registered the team is designated as the team captain. Team captains will be the main point of contact for all teams and required to communicate promptly.
- All tournament communications will take place through the official GrandChase Classic Discord. All players for all teams are required to be in the server in order to participate. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
- All teams will have access to the tournament channels. Tournament admins will communicate with teams through specific channels to coordinate the matches. Team captains must be readily available throughout the tournament. Repeat failure to communicate in a timely manner may result in disqualification.
- All players from all teams must be ready to play at tournament start time. Failure to do so may result in being replaced by a team on standby.
Tournament Preparation
In an effort to minimize tournament length and avoid delays, it is vital that teams are prepared for their matches during both stage 1 and stage 2.
Stage 1 Preparation
Teams must be prepared to begin matches at the tournament start time. Teams will have 10 minutes after the tournament start time to join their tournament lobbies and begin their matches.
Following each round’s completion and a new round being generated on the bracket’s website, the GM will send lobby information to all teams once again. Teams will then have 10 minutes to join their lobbies and begin their matches.
Should a team not begin their stage 1 match on time, it will be forfeit and they will receive a loss for that round. However, additional time may be allotted to a team at the GM’s discretion.
Stage 2 Preparation
Teams must be prepared to begin their stage 2 matches when called upon. A GM will ask teams for their bans prior to their match beginning. Teams may forfeit their ban should they not be prepared. Teams may receive a countdown to a forfeit from a GM should they not be prepared to play their matches.
Free Agents
Free agency will not be permitted for this tournament. A PvP channel is available in the Discord server where we encourage players to search for teammates.
Stream information
All tournaments will be livestreamed beginning in the playoff bracket. No matches from stage 1 will be livestreamed. More information on the livestream will be available at a later date.

Ping for North America
Players must be able to consistently have green or yellow ping bars when playing throughout the tournament. If a player’s ping dips into red occasionally, it is at the admin’s discretion for whether or not it is acceptable
Should a player have consistent red ping, they will have one opportunity to reset their connection in an attempt to fix it. If this occurs in a game, they will forfeit that game, as there will be no resets due to poor connection issues.
It is the player’s responsibility to ensure a stable connection beforehand. It is highly encouraged that players join a match prior to the tournament and ensure a stable connection.
Roster & Substitutes
Substitutes are not allowed throughout the tournament. Teams must play with the registered roster at all times throughout the entirety of the tournament.
Maximum Character Limit
All three players on a team must utilize different characters in a game. For example, two players on the same team cannot play Decanee at the same time.
Lobby & Ban Information
Ley is automatically banned.
There are no bans for stage 1 of the tournament (swiss stage).
For the playoffs, teams listed on the top half of their match will ban one job for both teams, followed by the other team banning a second job for both teams. Teams may not ban for their match until their opponent has been decided for the round.
Teams will join the lobby simultaneously. Players may swap characters and jobs based on their opponent’s set up. Should teams not come to an agreement and continuous swapping occurs, all players will leave the lobby and rejoin and must stay as their selected character/job for that match.
Bans will remain the same throughout a series.
